Hi. My age is 21, height 5ft 6in and weighing 128lb,
I've joined a gym last week and have been trying to do all freestyle exercises without lifting any weight but I'm unable to do it properly like I can't do a proper military push ups instead I do a knee push up and not a single pull ups. I really want to build a lean body but I'm lacking in strength. What should I do so as to increase my strength and do all exercises properly. Your help will be really appreciated.
Thank You

First keep going and keep working hard and smart. Second give your body time to recover and adapt to the demands. And third, feed yourself nutritious, muscle building foods (good fats and proteins... and tons of fluids.)

Many people cannot do proper body weight exercises, that is why many of the machines and weights were made. Rather than doing a 128lb pull up for 0 reps, do a 60lb pull down for 4 sets of 8 reps on the pull down machine.

Leave your ego and emotions at the door when you enter the gym and just do good work to make your body better and stronger each and every time you go in. Get a trainer or a knowledgable buddy to help you with machines and weights. And when you are strong enough to properly do you body weight on the pull down machine... then go do pull ups.

hey trainer i am 16 years old and i am 231 pounds i have started going gym around 3 weeks ago. when i go gym i normally start off by going on the treadmill or bike and burn 100 calories then move onto what i do for example on thursdays i do chest and tricep workout then end it with cardio. On friday i do back and bicep workout and end it with cardio and sunday i do legs and end it with cardio. I am trying to get rid of my belly fat and at least go back to the 70-80kg. Is it good that i do body workout such as chest, bicep etc when i am trying to lose weight? because of course i like to put on muscle too. So i was wondering if i should stop the body workouts and just stick to cardio? is that something i should do ?

You should continue to do the chest and bicep workouts. Combining weight training with cardiovascular exercise is a lot more effective than just doing cardio alone. Weight training helps increase your metabolism, so you will still be burning calories after you have completed your workout. You will have a much easier time losing weight and burning belly fat if you continue do the weight training. You should be able to reach your goal weight within six months to a year if you follow the same program you are doing now.

Not only will weight training help you lose weight and burn belly fat, but it will also help you put on muscle. Furthermore, weight training will help you strengthen your muscles.

hi ,iam vishnu! last one year i workouting at gym, but i have small chest, my chest is not growing ! i workout 2 days in week only for chest. i don't know how it is happent!! can you help? plz give me a good sugestion!

Hello Vishnu,

Exercises that build mass on your chest are chest presses and the thousands of variants of this exercise.

Start doing bench presses, dumbell presses, incline and decline variants, and pushups.

Focus on adding weight to the exercises each and every week and your chest will have no choice but to grow.

Remember to eat a surplus of calories to allow your chest to grow. You cannot expect it to grow if you do not provide it with enough nutrients to do so.

Im a 19 year old female, I'm 5 foot and 110 pounds. I don't have a lot of fat to lose so I need to tone up. What is recommended for me for cardio and what machine is best? I like the elliptical and the stair master best. Also, my sides on my core are wide and I'd like to know a good exercise for that. And also if you think machines are okay for me to use, legs, arms, etc. thanks!

It is perfectly okay for you to use the stair master and elliptical machine. The stair master is great for toning the muscles in your lower body, and the elliptical machine can tone the muscles in your upper and lower body at the same time. You should include resistance training in your regime two or three times per week. Squats, lunges, push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups are examples of resistance activities. You should perform eight to 12 reps and two or three sets.

Additionally, Russian twists are great for chiseling the sides of your core. You will need a weight plate, dumbbell or medicine ball for this exercise. You will need to sit on the floor with your knees and hips bent at a 90 degree angle. After that, you will need to hold the medicine ball, weight plate or dumbbell in front of you. Twist as far as you can to your left and then change sides. You should perform eight to 12 reps and two or three sets.
